Homemade Samosa Sheets

Make your own thin and flexible samosa sheets at home with just a few simple ingredients. Perfect for preparing crispy samosas, spring rolls, and other savory snacks.

🛒 Ingredients

▢ 2 cups all-purpose flour (maida) 🌾
▢ ½ tsp salt 🧂
▢ ¾ cup water 💧
▢ 2–3 tbsp oil 🫒
▢ Extra dry flour for dusting 🌾

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.

2️⃣ Gradually add the water while mixing until a dough begins to form.

3️⃣ Knead the dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4️⃣ Cover the dough and let it rest for 10–15 minutes.

5️⃣ Knead the dough again briefly.

6️⃣ Divide the dough into 16 equal balls.

7️⃣ Roll each ball into a thin roti (flat circle).

8️⃣ Brush one roti lightly with oil and dust with flour.

9️⃣ Place another roti on top and repeat the process until you have a stack of 4 rotis.

🔟 Roll the stacked rotis into one large, thin circle.

1️⃣1️⃣ Heat a tawa or non-stick skillet over medium heat.

1️⃣2️⃣ Cook the rolled stack for a few seconds on one side, then flip and cook for a few more seconds on the other side. Do not fully cook or brown them.

1️⃣3️⃣ Remove from the heat while still warm.

1️⃣4️⃣ Carefully separate the layers one by one to create thin samosa sheets.

1️⃣5️⃣ Trim the edges if desired and keep the sheets covered with a towel to prevent drying.

1️⃣6️⃣ Use immediately or store for later use.

💡 Notes

• Keep unused sheets covered with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out.
• The sheets can be refrigerated for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
• They can also be frozen with parchment paper between each sheet for longer storage.
• These sheets are perfect for samosas, spring rolls, and other stuffed pastries. 😋🥟
