Mabroushe
A simple homemade treat with the taste of butter and jam!
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup soft butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup jam (strawberry, apricot, or fig – as you like)
Instructions:
1️⃣ Beat the butter and powdered sugar well until the mixture becomes light and creamy.
2️⃣ Add the eggs and vanilla, then mix.
3️⃣ Add the flour and baking powder, and knead until you get a soft, cohesive dough.
4️⃣ Take 3/4 of the dough and spread it evenly in a greased baking tray.
5️⃣ Spread a layer of jam on top.
6️⃣ Chill the remaining dough a little, then grate it on top of the jam to create the classic “mabroushe” look.
7️⃣ Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 minutes until it turns golden.
8️⃣ Let it cool, then cut into squares or rectangles.
Result: Soft, buttery mabroushe filled with jam aroma… a light and elegant dessert for any time!
