How to Make Manakish Za’atar

 

🛒 Ingredients

💧 1½ cups warm water
✨ 2 tsp instant yeast
🌾 3½ cups all-purpose flour
🧂 1 tsp fine sea salt
🫒 2 tbsp olive oil

🌿 Za’atar Topping

🌿 ½ cup za’atar blend
🫒 ⅓–½ cup olive oil

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ In a bowl, combine the warm water and yeast. Let rest for 10 minutes until foamy.

2️⃣ Add the flour, salt, and olive oil.

3️⃣ Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4️⃣ Cover the dough and let it rise for 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.

5️⃣ Preheat the oven and baking stone or baking sheet to 475°F (245°C).

6️⃣ Divide the dough into 6–8 equal balls.

7️⃣ Roll each ball into a round about ¼-inch thick.

8️⃣ In a small bowl, mix the za’atar and olive oil until a thick spreadable paste forms.

9️⃣ Spread the za’atar mixture evenly over each dough round.

🔟 Place on the hot baking stone or baking sheet.

1️⃣1️⃣ Bake for 6–8 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
