Meghli Recipe

Meghli (carvi cream) is a Lebanese style dessert dish served to celebrate a newborn baby in the family. Let's try this meghli recipe.

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup rice powder
  • 2 tablespoons carvi powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon aniseed powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon powder
  • roughly chopped nuts, pine kernels, almonds, grated coconut
  • Bring 2.5 liters of water to a boil, add the rice powder diluted in a bit of cold water. Add the sugar and spices. Stir with a wooden spoon until the mixture thickens.
  • Pour in cups. Serve cold, covered with the nuts and coconut.
